MindSonar is like an X-Ray Machine for the Mind
Repeated patterns in our thinking are often referred to as our ‘Mindset’. Working with mindsets is important, especially for those of us working with people. Somebody’s mindset determines their feelings and their actions. And these in turn determine their results. That goes for business, but in private life as well. And MindSonar is a great tool for measuring and understanding mindsets. It measures both Thinking Styles (Meta Programs) and Value Types (Graves Drives).
Exploring the Power of MindSonar
Given the importance of working with mindsets, it’s a great advantage if you can measure them. MindSonar is a psychological tool that helps you do just that. MindSonar was developed by Dutch psychologist Jaap Hollander and his team. It has its roots in Neuro Linguistic Programming and the work of psychologist Clare Graves.
Measuring mindsets and understanding them
MindSonar sess a mindset as an interplay between
a. Value types (What kinds of things do you find important?)
b. Thinking styles (How do you handle your values?)
Strengthening or changing mindsets
Understanding a given mindset greatly helps to strengthen it, teach it, or change it. Your mindset will greatly influence your perception (What you notice and what you miss), your mood and your actions. And your actions will eventually determine your results.
Applications
MindSonar is used for many different purposes. It helps coaches understand what changes are needed. It helps recruiters to attract hard to find new candidates, and to select the most suitable ones. MindSonar helps individuals understand their own mindset. And in teams it improves communication, cohesion and cognitive diversity. MindSonar is used to resolve conflicts and to help organizations change. It can help leaders analyse their leadership style and define strengths and improvements.
Mindsets vary with Context
One standout feature of MindSonar is that it presupposes that somebody’s thinking style can be different in different situations. For example, their thinking patterns at work may differ vastly from those at home, and MindSonar can capture this. Hence our tagline: ‘Because you are so much more‘.
Focus on People and Results
MindSonar offers accurate, practical insights in people’s mindsets, that can be applied in real-world situations. Wherever people and results are important, MindSonar is a fine grained, accurate and practical tool. If you like working with mindsets, MindSonar is your instrument of choice.
MindSonar is the New Profiling
MindSonar is not a personality test. We recognize that personality tests often offer a hold on complex situations, we also find them limiting. MindSonar does not want to lock people up in personality boxes. We assume people will think differently under different conditions. We will measure your mindset for a given context, but we will also assume that you have many other mindsets available. That’s why our tag line is: because you are so much more…

The profiling process consists of three parts:
The procedure usually takes between 40 and 60 minutes.
The cost of creating a MindSonar® profile consists of two elements: (1) the cost of the MindSonar® profile itself and (2) the cost of an hour with a MindSonar® Professional working with you.
Coaching or counselling usually consists of a preparatory interview (often via Skype or phone) about the question you want to answer with your MindSonar® profile. After the profiling, there will be an interview (preferably in person) about what the results mean and how they answer your question.
MindSonar® is not a personality test. Personality tests show what kind of person you are in general, regardless of the specific situation. Many people feel constrained by this. It’s not just about tests. Generally, people ‘typecast’ others: ‘He’s typical X’, ‘She’s typical Y’. Personality tests do this too – be it in a more scientific way. The “Big Five” test is officially based on how people generally rank among themselves. Some old personality tests (such as the MMPI) even tell you how sick or healthy your personality is in psychiatric terms.
